Radicals in their time, early Impressionists broke the rules of academic painting. They gave colour, freely brushed, primacy over detail line. Characteristics of the style include visible brush strokes, emphasis on light in its changing qualities, ordinary modern day subject matter, the inclusion of movement as an element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles. They emphasized vivid overall effects rather than details. Why just hang art prints? Turn your computer into a digital picture frame of famous masterpieces.
