											Body Mass Index is a relation of your weight to your 
height, which allows you to find out if you fall into 
underweight, normal, overweight, or obese category. 
Body Mass Index is an important indicator as it helps 
you define if you have an increased risk of heart 
disease and other issues associated with excess body 
fat. 
Body Mass Index applies to adult men and women. It is 
used to measure overweight and obesity. Body Mass 
Index of 25 or higher is indicative of higher risk for 
such diseases as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high 
blood pressure,  gallstones, breathing problems, and 
even certain cancers, which is why it is important to 
know your BMI. Body Mass Index can be used for men and 
women (except pregnant women) of all ethnic groups. 
Athletes may have a high Body Mass Index score because 
of increased muscle mass, not body fat. 
To calculate your Body Mass Index, you need to enter 
your weight and height into the program. You can use 
the English measurement system (feet and pounds) or 
the Metric one (kilograms and centimeters). BMI is not  |
