BigBrother is spyware, which is software that
monitors the usage of a PC by recording the keystrokes
of the PC user and emailing the record to an employer
or administrator. This is not a simple key logger but
an application that can be applied throughout a
company network and used as a Windows Service.
Using the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol,
BigBrother can connect to most any Mail server on an
intra/inter net. The administrator can set several
options that pertain to the service such as file size
limitation, email addresses, SMTP servers, log file
name and more. BigBrother is designed to be covert and
works as a Windows Service so it is not seen within
the Window Task Manager. BigBrother is also shareware
that permits a limited amount of use before purchase
is required.
In today’s office world, companies need to be
weary of what information may be transmitted over the
intra/internet. BigBrother can be used to verify the
office email policies are being abided by and that
slanderous material is not used.
