The Personal Portal Server creates a portal into your
computer. When you are away from your PC, you can
access your Outlook email, calendar and contacts via
any Web or WAP device. You can share files, download
and upload them to your computer. More than file
sharing, you can even run programs remotely from the
Web to handle tasks while away. All you need is an IP
address and an always-on connection, something that any
cable-modem or DSL customer has. If you want to access
all of your personal information from work, this is an
ideal solution. It also doesn't require you to stop
using Outlook to use some new PIM, so you can continue
to have all the benefits of Outlook, but via the web.
No need to install an FTP server, mail server or
anything complicated to get at your information.
